Homework, figure drawing and Helper Cat

Sunday morning I was working on a rather complicated drawing for an upcoming appointment this week:

Pocket Watch line drawing When the cat decided that he needed to come along and “help” with my project. He looked so adorable and was enjoying the sun so much that I set my homework aside for a bit and took some photos instead.

Yesterday was figure drawing class. Was having some difficulty which I would love to blame on having taken last week off. But the truth is that some weeks it goes better than others – but I am ALWAYS glad that I went and I feel it is improving my drawings skills AND giving me some much needed balance.

After figure drawing my daughter and I were working on a Christmas project and we got another helper. Same table – but a different project and a different cat.

Cats.

Love to be in the middle of whatever you are doing!

  1. The beautiful keeper of time has turned into a very beautiful treasure. I like to see old things. I often wonder if when the item was first made or when it was purcahsed or received as a gift, that it was aware of its legacy and the beauty that would come from it in time.

I love your cats too. It is handsome to see the black and white one’s green eyes look as watchers of your space and then to see him comfortably relaxed, eyes closed over it. Perfection.

This whole blog is pretty in so many ways. Just as the figures that you create in all of your art.

Thank you for sharing your gifts.

    • Thank you very much Rachael. Actually in the incidence of this particular time piece, it never existed until last week. This one is fabricated which is part of what made this design so “technically” difficult.
I’ll be hopefully making the tattoo tomorrow and will post photos of that as well.

    • I want to get a tattoo with an old pocket watch and lyrics somehow tied in either…we’ll stop the clock together and know that the timing was right or time has brought your heart to mine….your drawings are so good. please help

      • I’m not sure what kind of help you would be looking for. If you are looking for someone to make the drawing for you – you really should have that made for you by the artist who is going to be making the tattoo. If they can’t draw for you on paper don’t expect them to be able to make it on skin.
If I’ve misunderstood and you were looking for some other type of assistance, please let me know.

  2. How inspirational! I too am Mom, tattooer, shop owner…Was looking for pocket watches for a customer whos daughter ran out of time.Very sad ,but I stumbled across your drawing and it put a smile on my face.I am not alone…we design sheilds of armor, watches, sculpt angel tombstones from our minds…then draw them to tattoo them. Thanks for posting the pictures of your cats,It was a welcome distraction that brought me out of this funk I was just in.

    • So glad the kitties could help you out Rebecca. I find that very often the Universe sends me exactly what I need at the time that I need it 🙂
Hope your drawing project goes well. Memorial pieces for children are always rough for me as well.

  3. I have been getting inquiries from clients asking me to send them the full version of the pocket watch line drawing for their tattoo artist to use for their tattoo. If you are here with that intent, please read this other blog post first:
